The City of Akron Youth Basketball program has partnered with the Jr. Cavs to offer boys and girls of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to learn what it takes to win both on and off the court.

SILVER LEAGUE BASKETBALL
This is a basketball league for participants 50+ years old.  Stay in shape and continue to play a sport you love.  The league typically starts in October. Contact the community center for registration information.

Community Activities & Events
These events are sponsored/co-sponsored by the City of Akron Recreation & Parks division.  We are excited to be a part of these fun programs and events for everyone in the community to enjoy.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
A four-week FREE concert series performed by popular local bands. Concerts are held on Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.  Grab your lawn chair, bring a picnic and get out to enjoy the fresh air and music.

Community Meetings
Organizations host their meetings at our centers.  These meetings are open to the public at no charge and welcome new participants.  We look forward to seeing you.

Food Distribution
We have partnered with food distribution programs for any and all families in the community. There is no charge to participate in these programs and everyone is welcome.

GOOD SAMARITAN FOOD DISTRIBUTION
The Good Samaritan Food Assistance Program gives away groceries to residences in the area the last three Thursdays of every month at Summit Lake Community Center from 4:00 - 5:45 PM.  
Sign-up for text alerts
Open a new text message on your phone.  In the to area type 80123, in the area where you would type a message type GOODSAMHUNGER. Hit send. You will now be able to receive text message reminders for the most up to date information. 

SALVATION ARMY FREE COMMUNITY TABLE MEAL
The Salvation Army of Summit County offers a free hot meal Monday thru Friday from 11:30AM - 12:30PM.  All are welcome!

We proudly partner with local organizations & groups to allow more activities to take place in our centers.  Even though we would like to think we are experts in all things recreation, sometimes it's better to bring in a specialist. 

Alpha Phi Alpha Youth Soccer Club

TOTALEE GIRLS MENTORING
Meets the 1st and 2nd Thursday of each month between March 2 - June 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM
This is a mentoring program open to girls between the ages of 10-15 years old. This program will focus on topics like personal growth, inspiration, respect, love, self-awareness, financial literacy, cooking, and more.
