Sports And Athletics Division
Did you know that there are over 200 athletic fields and courts located throughout the city? The City of Akron Sports and Athletics division oversees the permitting of all city fields and courts, offers youth and adult sport leagues, and assists with coordinating large tournaments. The division also oversees operations for Firestone Stadium, Copley Road Soccer Complex, and Patterson Ballfields.
Field permits from the Sports and Athletics division are required for any organized play on City of Akron fields.

West Akron Baseball and Softball (WABL)
WABL was established in 1957, and continues to be a non-profit organization. The league consists of youth baseball, youth softball, and co-ed T-Ball teams. The league is open to all West Akron children ages 5-14 years old. For more information visit their website, wabl.org

Basketball
The Late Night Basketball league is for men & women ages 18 year & older. League games will be held at Balch Fitness Center. There is no cost to play in the league, games will be held Wednesday evenings during the spring and summer seasons.
The Late Night Basketball League promotes working together and can provide constructive alternatives for the young men & women at risk of drug, crime, and gang- related activity. Being involved in the Late Night Basketball keeps young men & women off the street, teaches them self-discipline, and gives them an opportunity to make a positive changes in their lives.
We offer open gym time at several of our community centers:

The City of Akron Tiny Tot Basketball program provides the opportunity for young athletes at the recreational level to improve their basketball knowledge and skill set while working side by side with experienced city of Akron staff. The themes we stress are teamwork, creating a safe learning environment for all participants, accountability, and sportsmanship.

The City of Akron Youth Basketball program has partnered with the Jr. Cavs to offer boys and girls of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to learn what it takes to win both on and off the court.
