Mayor Malik Launches New Akron 311 App

Akron, Ohio, Jan. 16, 2024  — Today, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik has launched a new app to support the Mayor’s 3-1-1 Action Center. The app, powered by Rock Solid, is entitled “MyAkron311” and is available for free on all Apple or Android devices in the app store. After downloading, residents can create a profile, enter a service request, look up timely city information, and set up notifications specific to their address such as trash/recycling collection reminders. The app improves the functionality and accessibility of the Mayor’s 3-1-1 Action Center.

“I’m excited to launch the new Akron 311 App for our residents to make our city services and communications that much more accessible to our community,” said Mayor Malik. “During my campaign, I often spoke of the need for an easier way to track city service requests and this app does just that. Also, by creating an account and entering your address, residents will have access to notifications sent directly to their phones for everything from trash collection reminders to updates on their service request.”

Residents will still be able to enter a service request by calling 3-1-1 or by going online to AkronOhio.gov/311. They can also still enter service requests anonymously. The app offers another method to submit a request and also allows residents to see other requests entered for their area. For example, if a resident is submitting a request for a specific pothole in their neighborhood, they’ll be able to see if anyone else has already submitted a request for the same pothole. Residents will also be able to easily resubmit a request if needed. The app also includes links to other widely used city resources such as paying your water bill, looking up the city’s social media channels, checking out what’s new with recreation and parks, viewing the Akron City Council calendar, and much more.
