Business And Real Estate Development
The City of Akron’s Development Division sells commercial and residential land for development. The Development Division solicits proposals from private and nonprofit organizations for City owned land in targeted areas in accordance with development standards (provided within each Request For Proposal or RFP). Industrial Zoned land is available in each of our industrial parks.
The City of Akron supports businesses and entrepreneurs at all stages of their business; COA offers direct support with various internal programs and invests in/partners with nonprofit organizations with expert knowledge of the needs of our business climate.
Akron’s relatively low-priced existing housing, growth in newly developed housing, and 15 year residential tax abatement program make Akron an attractive place to build/buy and renovate a home. In addition to working on large scale development projects, the City also has a few avenues to sell homes and buildable lots directly to residents.
