At the Akron Police Department, we believe our work has an immediate impact within our community. Through community relationships, we work to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life for those who live, work and play in our city. Our agency has more than 446 sworn police officers and 37 civilian staff serving nearly 200,000 residents. We are the second largest law enforcement agency in Northeast Ohio and home to one of the most diverse cities in the State of Ohio.

NEW PATROL SCHEDULE

The Patrol Division is the backbone of our agency. Recently, we adopted a new schedule to help improve work-life balance for our officers. Below is an example of our new ten hour patrol shift schedule that gives our patrol officers every other weekend off!
