Akron’s Technology Bridges stem from the desire to grow and attract world class technologies, ensuring that Akron maintains an active role in the global economy. Responsible for innovation, collaboration, opportunity and cooperation, these technology bridges facilitate the movement of research, commercialization and resources between Akron and our international partners. The City of Akron targets early-stage companies within one to two years of commercializing innovative products in the United States.

Successes
The Technology Bridge program has been successful in bringing foreign investment to the Akron area:
1. Attracted Israeli, Finnish, Chinese, and Slovenian companies
2. Since 1992, Akron has attracted 50 new investments to the greater Akron area
3. $18 million investment from the Chinese in 2011
