Christopher Reece began his legal career in 1990 with valuable experience as a City of Akron prosecutor. He joined the City of Akron Law Department Civil Division, primarily handling law enforcement and fire services civil liability defense, personal injury, property damage, employment discrimination and eminent domain.
Reece left employment with the City to work at one of the nation’s largest defense firms (500 attorneys across seven states) devoted to civil litigation. From the Ohio office, he handled the defense of cases in 30 of Ohio’s 88 counties, for clients that included AIG, State Farm Insurance, Lowe’s Home Centers, Inc., Bob Evans, J.C. Penney, Cintas and Burlington Stores. After seven years, Reece returned to the City of Akron on the invitation of former Director of Law, Max Rothal, to resume civil litigation defense responsibility for the City of Akron. He occasionally served as Acting Director of Law under the prior administration.
In private practice and in public service, Reece has practiced in state municipal courts, state courts of common pleas, state appellate courts, the Ohio Supreme Court, federal district courts and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
