Adele Roth joined the Mayor’s cabinet July 1, 2014, as Deputy Planning Director for Economic Development.

Adele was born in São Paulo, Brazil and immigrated to the United States in 1963 with her family.  She has lived throughout the United States and in 1975, her family settled in Akron where she graduated from Harvey S. Firestone High School.  Adele then attended the Université de Nice and received her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Akron.

Adele has been au pair, glazed windows, owned a business, taught freshman economics, been the Administrator for the City of Akron’s Capital Budget Division, and most recently the manager of the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development.

As Deputy Planning Director, Adele manages the City’s Economic Development Coordinating Committee on financial issues critical to major project developments throughout the City of Akron and its Joint Economic Development Districts, and advises the Mayor on such issues.

Two of the most recent complex high profile projects Adele worked on are the Goodyear Headquarters development and the Highland Square neighborhood development project.

Adele has served as a board member on the Development Financing Advisory Council for the State of Ohio and currently is on the Economics Advisory Board for the University of Akron.  In addition, she is a member of the Ohio Economic Development Association and the International Economic Development Council.
