Akron's Lock 3 Releases Full Schedule for July Events and Concerts

Akron, Ohio, June 29, 2021 — Today, the City of Akron’s Lock 3 has announced the detailed list of July 2021 events on the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Stage and throughout the City.

Additionally, Lock 3 announced earlier today that their concessions and food options are expanding with a new partnership with NoHi Pop-Up. The carry-out, rotating restaurant in Akron's North Hill will feature a different food artist weekly, and be available during events.

July 2021 events include:

Tuesday Fresh Air Fitness:

• Downtown Yoga: Every Tuesday in July, join Yoga Squared for yoga in Lock 3.
• Thank Dog! Bootcamp: Join Thank Dog! Bootcamp for a bootcamp and dog obedience class from 7-8 p.m. every Tuesday in July.

Wednesday Summer Concert Series, Lock 4 Reboot series at Lock 3:

Every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. there will be live music, drink specials, food, and more. The concert series was originally held at Lock 4 but has moved to Lock 3 this summer. 

• July 7, 2021: Swizzle Sticks
• July 14, 2021: The Fabulous Voices
• July 21, 2021: The Stingers
• July 28, 2021: The Rhythm Syndicate

Thursday Alternative Nights with the jenY 107.3:

Alternative nights will occur every Thursday through August with radio station jenY 107.3 FM from 7 to 10 p.m. with yard games, drink specials, music, food, and more.

Friday Rock the Lock Presented by WONE 97.5:

Every Friday through August Rock the Lock will feature your favorite tribute bands. Gates open at 6 p.m. and concerts begin at 7 p.m.

• July 2, 2021: E5C4P3, Journey Tribute with The Tony Lang Band, First Friday $5 Admission
• July 9, 2021: Return To Paradise, A Styx Tribute with Charita Franks
• July 16, 2021: Hollywood Nights, A Bob Seger Experience with Michael Weber
• July 23, 2021: Atomic Punks, The Tribute to Early Van Halen with Kerosene
• July 30, 2021: Hard Days Night, Beatles Tribute Band with Into the Blue

Saturday and Sunday Music, Events, and Festivals:

• Sat., July 3, 2021: Lock 3 is hosting its Downtown Block Party from 2 to 7 p.m. It will feature a local food truck round-up (interested trucks should contact Lock 3 at [email protected]), craft beer tasting, inflatables, and live entertainment on the stage including the Realm of the Reptile show and local band 45 RPM.
• Sat., July 10, 2021: The Drifters. These true music legends have hits that include “Under the Boardwalk,” “Save the Last Dance for Me,” “Up on the Roof,” “This Magic Moment,” “There Goes My Baby,” and more. Free Admission.
• Sat., July 24 and Sun., July 25: African-American Cultural Festival with a marketplace, food, music, and activities!

Family Movie Night: Join us at Lock 3 on Sunday evenings this summer and enjoy a special theme starting at 8 p.m. followed by a movie. Bring a blanket, learn fire safety, healthy eating, and more, and enjoy a movie under the stars. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

• Sun., July 18, 2021: Karate Kid | Theme - Karate

Movies on the Great Streets: Lock 3 is also proud to present Movies on the Great Streets in Akron neighborhoods.

• Sat., July 10, 2021: Middlebury, The Well, 647 E Market St. | Movie: Soul
• Sat., July 17, 2021: North Hill, People’s Park, 760 Elma St. | Movie: Raya and the Last Dragon

Community Partner Movie Series: These movies are held at various City of Akron partner locations throughout the summer.

Independence Day Weekend: The synchronized program of fireworks will be launched from the Akron Executive Airport, Patterson Park Ballfields, Summit Lake, and Erie Island beginning at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, 2021.

In partnership with WONE and the Rubber City Radio Group, spectators can share in a patriotic soundtrack for the program, no matter where they are, by tuning their radios to WONE 97.5 FM. There will be test shots fired at 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. The test shots will help residents determine the best location to view the displays.
