Akron, Ohio, September 15, 2017- The City of Akron is proud to host the Global Village Festival of Greater Akron on Saturday, September 16, from 11 AM to 5 PM outside Jennings Community Learning Center, located at 227 E. Tallmadge Avenue. The Global Village Festival proudly showcases Akron’s international and ethnic communities and is designed to foster greater awareness and appreciation for the diversity of the Greater Akron Community, for both our long-time residents and New Americans.

"Akron has long been a city where New Americans have settled to build a life and raise a family,” Mayor Horrigan said. “Now, more than ever, we recognize the need to come together and celebrate the diversity of our neighborhoods, by providing an opportunity for our native and foreign-born residents to share positive experiences and build strong community relationships.”

The Global Village Festival will promote cultural expression through live music, dance and theater performance, and will include children’s crafts, games, international cuisine and a fresh farmers market. Additionally, the International Institute of Akron will offer a FREE one-hour Trolley Tour through the Historic North Hill Neighborhood.
