Akron, Ohio, December 19, 2016 – Mayor Dan Horrigan directed the Water Supply Bureau to cease water service disconnections from Friday, December 16, 2016 through Monday, January 2, 2017 for all customers eligible for disconnection due to non-payment. “I am putting this moratorium in place so all of our customers can maintain water service during their holidays,” Horrigan said.

Approximately 775 customers per month have their water service disconnected due to non-payment. The utility will resume disconnection of water service due to non-payment on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. The Akron Water Supply Bureau provides retail water and sewer service to approximately 85,000 accounts in Summit County including Fairlawn, Mogadore and portions of Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Bath, Springfield, Copley and Coventry townships.
