
AKRON DRINKING WATER SUPPLY BUREAU HOSTS WATER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR APS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Akron, Ohio - April 6, 2016 –Throughout the week of April 6, the City of Akron Drinking Water Supply Bureau is hosting its semi-annual Drinking Water Education Program for 150 high school students from the Akron Public Schools. Students will be visiting Akron’s Drinking Water Treatment Plant located in Portage County.
Student participants will tour the facility; attend workshops on water treatment while gaining hands-on experience confirming the process is working effectively. Participants will also be given the opportunity to ask questions while learning more about the profession of drinking water treatment. The program goal is to encourage students to consider water treatment as a future career.
Student participants are juniors and seniors from the Akron Alternative Academy, Buchtel, East, Firestone, North and STEM.
