
CITY OF AKRON COLLECTS DONATIONS FOR ORLANDO VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES - JUNE 20, 21 AND 22

Akron, Ohio, June 17, 2016 –June 20, 21 and 22, the City of Akron will collect donations for the victims and families of the June 12 Orlando shootings. The project name is OneAkron for OneOrlando.
“In my conversation with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, he shared that the best help our City of Akron community can provide is prayers and donations to the OneOrlando Fund,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan.
“I know how giving our community is, and believe many will want to show their support to those in need in Orlando.”
Youth volunteers from the City of Akron PeaceMakers will be in the lobby of the Municipal Building, 166 South High Street, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to receive donations. Checks may be made payable to OneAkron for OneOrlando. Cash will also be accepted.
All proceeds go the victims and families of those killed or injured in the shootings at the Pulse Night Club and will be forwarded to the OneOrlando Fund.
The distribution of funds will be administered by the Central Florida Foundation. The Foundation serves as the region’s community foundation and is home to more than 400 charitable funds.
The OneOrlando Fund will support:
- Nonprofits that are supporting the victims and families
- The LGBTQ, Hispanic, faith and other affected communities
- Underlying causes of this tragic event
- Other needs we cannot anticipate until we face them
THE ONEORLANDO FUND IS A PROJECT OF STRENGTHEN ORLANDO, INC, a 501(c)(3) NONPROFIT CORPORATION CREATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPPORTING AND STARTING PROJECTS TO STRENGTHEN THE ORLANDO COMMUNITY.
