Akron, Ohio, June 23, 2020 The community is at its best when we include people of all abilities, which is why the City of Akron and Summit DD are announcing a new scavenger hunt as part of The Akron Games called “May There Always Be Summit DD.” The FREE “May There Always Be Summit DD” scavenger hunt is based on the sing-along book by Jim Gill, and is open to those of every ability. Participants who finish all 15 missions will be entered to win a prize.

The Akron Games “May There Always Be Summit DD”, which is being sponsored by Summit DD, will provide new challenges, each consisting of scavenger hunt items to find or missions to complete. These challenges will begin June 26 and end July 3. The challenges can be completed either through the GooseChase app or by using a flyer, which will be available to view or print at

You must use the GooseChase app to be eligible for a prize. The app is free and available for download on Android or Apple devices. Some challenges might take you through your own neighborhood finding everyday items or they could be completed from the comfort of your own home.

“Summit DD is proud to partner with the City of Akron and Lock 3 for this summer series that encourages people of all abilities to have fun and safely explore their community,” expressed Summit DD Superintendent, John Trunk. “Communities are stronger when they include everyone.”

Thanks to the support of Summit DD, this scavenger hunt celebrates and brings awareness to the unique abilities of all individuals. This hunt was created to be inclusive both in terms of access (using a smart phone with the app or utilizing a paper copy of the scavenger hunt) and in completion of the hunts/missions. For example, one mission in the hunt is to share an image of how you communicate whether that is through sign language, a communication device, a smile, etc.

Other challenges will be created and added to The Akron Games throughout the summer. Stay up to date with all events and programming by checking or following “Lock 3 Akron, Ohio” on Facebook.
