City of Akron Press Release
From the desk of City of Akron Press Office
Published: 12-29-2022

Akron, Ohio, December 29, 2022 — The City of Akron Water Division has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for approximately 200 customers located in portions of Fairlawn Heights, Copley Township, and the City of Fairlawn, effective immediately. Water testing completed over the past 24 hours has confirmed the drinking water is safe.

Wednesday morning, the City of Akron issued a precautionary boil advisory because of depressurization related to a water main break and an unexpected shut down of a water booster pumping station. The water main break has been repaired and pressures have been restored to the affected areas.

EPA regulations require the City to perform testing over a 24-hour period to ensure that the drinking water is safe before a precautionary boil water advisory can be lifted. Customers are no longer required to boil their drinking water or take any special precautions. Water is safe to consume and can be used normally.

Questions should be directed to Akron Water Distribution Dispatch at (330) 375-2420.
