
City of Akron Announces Upcoming Memorial Parkway Closure for Continued Work on Memorial Conveyance Project

Akron, Ohio, February 14, 2021 — As part of the Memorial Conveyance Project (CSO Rack 26 & 28), H.M. Miller Construction and The City of Akron will be closing the north portion of Memorial Parkway between Uhler Avenue and Hickory Street to westbound traffic starting Monday, February 21, 2022. The primary detour route will be N. Main St., N. High St., E. Market/W. Market St., and Merriman Rd. There will also be a secondary detour route that utilizes Cuyahoga St., N. Howard St., W. North St., W. Market St., and Merriman Rd.
On Monday, March 14, 2022, Memorial Parkway will be closed to all traffic between Uhler Avenue and Hickory Street. Eastbound traffic will be detoured using Merriman Rd., W. Market/E. Market St., N. Broadway, N. Main St., and E. Tallmadge Ave.
During this work, access to the Akron Dog Park and Memorial Parkway Trailhead for the Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail will continue to be maintained from the west side of the project.
Work is expected to be completed by April 29, 2022.
