Akron, Ohio, September 23, 2021 – TikTok is partnering with Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan to host a Small Biz Block Party for Ohio businesses on October 5, 2021 from 1-2 pm. The event is free and open to anyone who works at or owns a small business, as well as media. The event will be held in the ForYouniverse (a fun interactive events platform run by TikTok). During the Small Biz Block Party, business owners will learn the basics of TikTok as well as industry-leading tools and tactics to reach new communities and grow their business. Learn more and RSVP here.

“Our small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy—fueling job creation and providing essential services and products to our communities,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan. “Increasingly, people are getting information and making connections online, and business owners need to reach potential customers on emerging platforms. We’re proud to partner with TikTok to help our local small business community seize the opportunity on TikTok to create, connect and thrive.”

"Businesses of all sizes are using the magic of the TikTok community to reach new audiences and expand their business — whether it's a startup or an iconic local business," said Becca Sawyer, TikTok's Global Head of SMB. "Our goal is to give every business owner in America the same opportunities as the biggest brands and to help them turn their dreams into a reality."

The event will also include an open Q&A with the owners of Cincinnati-based Hellman Retail Group and Dayton-based Top Secret Bundles during the last half hour. You can learn more and RSVP here.
