
CITY OF AKRON CONDUCTING WATER MAIN FLUSHING PROGRAM

Akron, Ohio, Oct. 7, 2016 – The Akron Water Department will begin flushing hydrants in the West Akron, Downtown and Hawkins/Copley areas Sunday through Thursday evenings, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The city conducts this program within the Akron Bath, Coventry, Fairlawn, Hudson, Mogadore and other water retail service vicinities to help maintain the water quality and to increase and evaluate the amount of water available for firefighting purposes.
The Downtown Akron Area is bounded approximately by:
Margate Road to the North
West Exchange Street to the South
Broadway Street to the East
Merriman Road to the West
The West Akron Area is bounded approximately by:
Mayfair Road to the North
Vernon Odom Blvd. to the South
Merriman Road to the East
Crestview Avenue to the West
Crews will also continue to flush hydrants in the Kenmore area beginning Thursday, October 6.
Water users are encouraged to check their cold water for discoloration prior to drawing water for cooking or use in automatic washers and dishwashers. If discoloration is found, please discontinue use until water clears.
