Akron, Ohio, November 19, 2019 – Mayor Dan Horrigan is excited to announce that the City’s HeyAkron! Magazine has been sent out to residents and businesses across the city. Within the coming days, the magazine will be showing up in the mail to provide information on the Recreation and Parks division, the Lock 3 Winterblast schedule, Streets and Safety updates, answers to some of residents’ most frequently asked questions, and more. You can also view the magazine online by visiting www.akronohio.gov/heyakron.
“The HeyAkron! magazine is a way for us to communicate with residents about all our city has to offer. We want to celebrate our successes and also take this opportunity to educate residents on new developments. I hope the magazine serves as a useful reminder of the progress being made to grow Akron into a safer, more inclusive community, with increased opportunities for all our citizens,” Mayor Horrigan said.
The cover of the magazine will feature photos from Akron residents – chosen through the public Parks Photo Contest announced in September. The winner of the Parks Photo Contest, Mike Falkenstein, submitted a serene photo of Akron’s Summit Lake Pier. The background cover photo was also submitted by an Akron resident, Sean Lacey. Sean’s photo displays the Towpath Trail bridge over Route 59 as it appears lit up at night. These two images showcase the talent of these local photographers and highlight the beauty of Akron.
The magazine will feature a pull-out wall calendar for the full winter 2019-2020 Lock 3 Winterblast schedule, also released today. This will include information on the ice rink hours and special events. You can also find more on www.Lock3Live.com.
The 2019 HeyAkron! magazine is expected to arrive to Akron households and businesses this week. Extra copies will be available at all City of Akron community centers. A digital version of the magazine is available online at www.akronohio.gov/heyakron.
