Published: 02-10-2021

Akron, Ohio, February 9, 2021 — Today, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan has announced a change in the City’s Utilities Business Office (UBO) drop box location. The City of Akron Utilities Business Office has relocated from the CitiCenter building located at 146 S. High Street to the Pry Building located at 1180 S. Main Street.  As of Friday, February 19, 2021, the drop box located at the CitiCenter building will be sealed off and no longer in use.  Customers can utilize the new UBO payment drop box located at 1180 S. Main St. (see picture) to drop off check or money order payments (NO CASH PLEASE). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Utilities Business Office is not open to walk-in customer service at this time.

Moving the Utilities Business Office to the Pry Building makes way for the $28 million private redevelopment of the 11-floor CitiCenter in downtown which is set to begin in the first half of 2021.

Customers may still make payments through the following ways, in addition to using the new drop box location:

Federal CARES Act dollars are available for those having difficulty paying their utility bill. If customers' finances have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and this hardship is making it difficult to make timely utility bill payments, they can visit akronohio.gov/akroncares to apply for assistance.

If hardship is not the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, customers may still qualify for Akron Cares assistance if they meet certain qualifying criteria. Please view the application here to find out if you qualify.

The Utilities Business Office will be open to answer calls at (330) 375-2554 from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday-Friday or you can email [email protected] with any questions.
