From the desk of Ellen Lander Nischt
Published: 12-02-2019

Akron, Ohio, December 2, 2019 Mayor Dan Horrigan directed the Water Supply Bureau to cease water service disconnections starting today, Monday, December 2, 2019 through Monday, January 6, 2020 for all customers eligible for disconnection due to non-payment. This moratorium is double the amount of days as previous years, giving customers ample time to pay their bills.

“The holidays are a time to celebrate with loved ones. This extended moratorium allows our customers to do just that and maintain their water service throughout this season,” Mayor Horrigan said.

The utility will resume disconnection of water service due to non-payment on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. The Akron Water Supply Bureau provides retail water service to approximately 300,000 customers in Summit County including Akron, Fairlawn, Mogadore and portions of Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Bath, Springfield, Copley and Coventry townships.
