Akron, Ohio, February 1, 2023 — This Friday, Feb. 3, Summit Lake Community Center (380 W Crosier St.) will be open from 8:00am - 7:00pm to serve as a warming center for those residents who are in need. All other community centers will also be available during their normal hours for anyone needing to get out of the cold. See here for a full list of locations.

"As the forecast calls for frigid temperatures during the day on Friday, we want to offer a dedicated space for anyone who needs to warm up," said Mayor Horrigan. “Summit Lake Community Center will be open extra hours, but all of our community centers are open to the public during their normal hours as well.”

The emergency overnight shelter located at 111 East Voris St. will be open from Wednesday, Feb. 1 – Friday, Feb. 3 from 7:00pm-8:00am. The Emergency Overnight Shelter is a community partnership between The Peter Maurin Center, Summit County Continuum of Care, and Community Support Services and provides food, shelter, and clothing.
