Akron, Ohio, May 21, 2020 – All City of Akron municipal offices will be closed for business on Monday, May 25, 2020 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. As a reminder, physical access to municipal buildings remains very limited during the City’s response to COVID-19, and will remain limited until further notice. City offices and services are still accessible via the phone, website, and email, but will be closed for business on Memorial Day.

There will be no curb service on Monday, May 25. There will be a one-day delay of trash/recycle collections for the remainder of the week, with curb service resuming on Tuesday, May 26. To get reminders and alerts about your household’s curb service schedule, please download the Akron Recycles app free on Android or Apple devices.

“Memorial Day is set aside to remember with gratitude all those who nobly served and gave their lives to defend our democracy. Our community and our nation owe these fallen men and women a debt that can never be repaid. May we all take time to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. This year, may we all evoke that selfless spirit during our celebrations by limiting our gatherings and adapting our activities to protect the health and lives of others in our community,” said Mayor Dan Horrigan.
