On Monday, Mayor Plusquellic will introduce legislation requesting Council approve the purchase or lease of construction equipment, in anticipation of ultimately leasing or selling that equipment to the Akron City Construction Company (ACCC), a company that will be set up to ensure that Akron residents are working on the City’s sewer projects.

Specifically, Council will be asked to consider legislation for the purchase/lease of six concrete trucks and four dump trucks.  The legislation will also allow the City to sell or lease that equipment in the future to ACCC for use on City construction projects.

“This large financial commitment assures our residents that we are serious about training and hiring them for our sewer projects,” said Mayor Plusquellic.  “There are several legal steps that need to take place in order to create the Construction Company.  And, because it takes time for construction equipment to be delivered, purchasing equipment now will help to ensure that we are ready to proceed when the company is formed.”
