LOCK 3 ANNOUNCES 2016 SUMMER SCHEDULE
Akron, Ohio, April 19, 2016 – The City of Akron’s Lock 3 amphitheater opens its 2016 summer season on Friday, May 27 featuring Dirty Deeds, an extreme AC/DC tribute band. Local band, Grunge DNA will open the show, which is presented by WONE. Bands will take the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Stage at 7 p.m..
This year’s season brings 29 Friday and Saturday night concerts, four festivals, and 40 community fundraising events to downtown Akron. Organizers have added jazz and gospel performances to the neighboring Lock 4 stage and the new "Live at Lock 4, Third Thursday" series.
Summer festival highlights include: Rib, White and Blue Rib Festival, July 1 through 4; Italian Festival, July 7 through 9; African-American Festival, July 16 through 17; and National Hamburger Festival, August 13 through 14; and Flair Fest Akron, August 20.
Saturday night concerts will feature big name groups; Tony! Toni! Tonế with Rumpelstiltskin, June 25, Tower of Power, July 30, and En Vogue with Horns & Things, September 3.
Several talented cover bands will also take the stage: Straight On, June 3, Absolute Journey, June 17, Bruce in the USA, July 1, Aeroforce, July 15, Atomic Punks, August 5, Space Oddity, August 15, and The Machine Performs Pink Floyd with G-Force, September 2.
