Lieutenant Eric Carpenter

Akron Fire Department

July 2021

Lt. Eric Carpenter began his career with the City of Akron Fire Department on September 22, 2008.  He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2015.  Lt. Carpenter is currently the Station Lieutenant at Station 13, where he is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at the Station, as well as ensuring that weekly, monthly and annual work is scheduled and completed in a timely matter.  Despite being one of the oldest Stations in the City of Akron, Station 13 is kept in immaculate condition and is a model for other stations, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Lt. Carpenter.

Lt. Carpenter is a proactive officer who works hard to keep his firefighters well-trained and motivated.  During the high call volume and stressful working conditions at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Lt. Carpenter worked diligently to motivate and encourage his firefighters to keep a positive attitude.

Lt. Carpenter is a graduate of Green High School and is an Air Force Veteran.  He currently attends Stark State and is working towards his degree in Emergency Medical Services.

Lt. Carpenter has been married to his wife, Karen, for 10 years and together have two children, Colton and Austin.  In his spare time, Lt. Carpenter enjoys mountain biking, fishing, motorcycles, horses and volunteering in the community.
