Starting on March 1, 2020, City of Akron trash/recycling customers will see an adjustment in their bill. Akron City Council Ordinance No. 208-2018 (link provided below), provides for curb service rates to be adjusted in accordance with the Municipal Cost Index.
The Municipal Cost Index, is designed to show the effects of inflation on the cost of providing municipal services. The rates were calculated by taking the difference between the Municipal Cost Index in June 2018 and June 2019 and calculating the difference. The difference is then divided by the June 2018 MCI to determine the percentage change.
