Afterschool Programs

AFTER SCHOOL CARE
Reservoir Park After School Program is for students K-6th grade at Seiberling CLC, students from other schools will need to have transportation to Reservoir Park. Students will have time to work on their homework and will receive a snack. After homework time and snack, there will be a mix of planned activities and free time until pick up. 

The program runs from 2:30 PM and students must be picked up no later than 5:30 PM.

Art Programming

ART I GRADES 1-3 and 4-8
After school art is offered in the Spring and Fall at Reservoir Park Community Center. In this intro level art class students will focus on design aspects of different art styles and media. All supplies are included in this program. 246290017_265034695633501_5506328241042481380_n

MAKE IT TAKE ITS
Community centers offer different Make it Take it projects each month.  In these classes participants will learn to make different crafts that can be completed and taken home that night! Supplies and instruction are included in classes.

SLIP CASTING
Participants will learn slip casting, a method of ceramics used to mass-produce professional grade pottery, to create pre-designed ceramic pieces.

Club S.T.E.A.M
S.T.E.A.M stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Each month we will work on a project that will engage kinds in one or more of these areas!
Club S.T.E.A.M is open to kids 8-13 and meets the second Tuesday of each month. There is no cost. To register call (330) 375-2802


Community Activities & Events
These events are sponsored/co-sponsored by the City of Akron Recreation & Parks division.  We are excited to be a part of these fun programs and events for everyone in the community to enjoy.

ANNUAL EASTER EVENT  
In partnership with Heart 4 The City and Wingfoot Church.
Candy and toy giveaway to children in Spring usually a week prior to Easter holiday. Reservoir Park Easter Egg Hunt is held the Saturday before Easter. The hunt begins at noon!

ANNUAL TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT
Candy giveaway prior to Halloween

CHRISTMAS TOY GIVEAWAY
Toys and candy given away to children in community a week prior to Christmas. 

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
A four-week FREE concert series performed by popular local bands.  Concerts are held on Fridays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.  Grab your lawn chair, bring a picnic and get out to enjoy the fresh air and music.

Crochet, Knitting, Sewing
Beautiful things come together one stitch at a time.  Our groups offer a variety of skills to learn while meeting new friends and keeping our mind & hands occupied!

CROCHET FOR A CAUSE
Every Friday from 6:00 - 8:00PM 
Come together to crochet (or knit) items to be donated to a good cause. This month we are making scarves for Knit Your Bit who distributes scarves to veterans’ centers, hospitals, and service organizations across the country. New Crocheters are welcome we can provide all materials and instruction needed!

CAMP MINECRAFT  
Camp Minecraft is held during Akron Public School’s Spring and Winter break.

After introductory activities on gaming, students will work individually in the Minecraft world to collect materials needed to build a structure in the game. Each student will be tasked with collecting a given material. By the conclusion of the week, campers will be asked to work together in a shared Minecraft board to collaboratively construct a structure, with each individual supplying their given material. 

Campers will be provided with lunch each day of camp. Aftercare is available for students for $30 and runs until 5:00 PM.


Fitness
With our Fitness Class Pass, you can attend multiple classes at multiple centers across the city.   Our certified instructors will help get you on track and keep you on task. Try your first class for free.  Participants must register for a pass on RecDesk.

BEATZ
Wednesdays 9:00 - 9:45 AM
Beatz is a class of cardio drumming that brings together drumsticks, an exercise ball, and a bucket for the ball to sit in. It’s a fun, fast-paced workout that incorporates drumming and cardio to the rhythm of music. High tempo, low impact and one of the most fun workouts you’ll ever do. Using the exercise ball and floor as your drum and mixing in fun moves, cardio drumming turns keeping a rhythm into a workout leaving you smiling, sweating, and feeling amazing! 

YOGA 
Wednesdays 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
A gentle-to-moderate class, suitable for anyone capable of rising from lying to standing without assistance. Sequence touches on all the movements of the spine with a focus on lengthening the spine, as well as gentle hip opening, balance, range of motion, and strength building.  Variations are offered to allow customization based on your needs and goals.  


Swimming Pool

Reservoir Park swimming pool - under construction for the 2024 season 
Season runs June - August
Free admission to the pool, but a free Open Swim membership will be required on AkronRecDesk for the season.
