Basketball

TINY TOT BASKETBALL - Ages 5-7

The City of Akron Tiny Tot Basketball program at Joy Park Community Center provides the opportunity for young athletes at the recreational level to improve their basketball knowledge and skill set while working side by side with experienced city of Akron staff. The themes we stress are teamwork, creating a safe learning environment for all participants, accountability, and sportsmanship.

YOUTH CO-ED BASKETBALL - Ages 8-10  |  11-13  |  14-17

The City of Akron Youth Basketball program has partnered with the Jr. Cavs to offer boys and girls of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to learn what it takes to win both on and off the court.

These events are sponsored/co-sponsored by the City of Akron Recreation & Parks division.  We are excited to be a part of these fun programs and events for everyone in the community to enjoy.

ANNUAL EASTER EVENT WITH JOY PARK FEDERATION
Candy and toy giveaway to children in Spring usually a week prior to Easter holiday.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
A three-week FREE concert series performed by popular local bands.  Concerts are held on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM every summer.  Grab your lawn chair, bring a picnic and get out to enjoy the fresh air and music.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL BACKPACK GIVEAWAY
Hosted in late August prior to start of School year, a partnership with Summit Racing and Joy Park Neighborhood Federation where we give away backpack of school supplies to children in community

ANNUAL TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT
Candy giveaway prior to Halloween

THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKET GIVEAWAY
In conjunction with Joy Park Federation–food baskets are given away to needy families in the community during the week of Thanksgiving.

CHRISTMAS TOY GIVEAWAY
Toys and candy given away to children in community a week prior to Christmas. Event co-sponsored by Akron Energy Systems and Joy Park Neighborhood Federation. 

Food Distribution
We have partnered with food distribution programs for any and all families in the community. There is no charge to participate in these programs and everyone is welcome.

GOOD SAMARITAN FOOD DISTRIBUTION
The Good Samaritan Food Assistance Program gives away groceries to residences in the area the last three Mondays of every month at Joy Park Community Center from 1:30 - 3:00 PM

We proudly partner with local organizations & groups to allow more activities to take place in our centers.  Even though we would like to think we are experts in all things recreation, sometimes it's better to bring in a specialist. 
 
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF NORTHEAST OHIO
Afterschool programs for children ages 5 through 17 years of age.

FIRST TEE OF GREATER AKRON
Ages 5 yrs. to adult–Spring season

JOY PARK NEIGHBORHOOD FEDERATION
Community based group that does fund raising events throughout year to create scholarship opportunities for local high school graduating seniors. 

MARTIAL ARTS
Ages 5 yrs. to Adult – Year round Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Senior Club - Joyful Seniors

Joyful Seniors meet monthly at the community center the last three Tuesdays of each month.

Weather Permitting
Splash pad may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance or other operational concerns.

RULES
  • The splash pad is not a supervised area – use at your own risk.
  • All children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Do not use splash pad when you have diarrhea.
  • Water is not meant for drinking.
  • Wash hands after using the restroom or changing diapers.
  • Take regular restroom breaks, change diapers in a restroom.
  • Running, jumping and horseplay are prohibited.
  • Pets, food, glass objects and smoking are not permitted.
  • Bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates or roller blades are prohibited.
  • No jumping off benches or climbing on the spray equipment.
  • The splash pad is for recreational purposes only, no bathing.
  • In case of thunderstorm, lightning, or severe weather, vacate the splash pad immediately.

Summer Fun Camp
Ages 7 - 13
Are you looking for something fun for your child all summer long?  Then join the Summer Fun Camp at Joy Park!  This 8 week camp will run Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM and will include breakfast and lunch, a t-shirt, field trips, and lots of activities!  Registration will be available through AkronRecDesk

Registration for summer camp opens April 1.
