EUCHRE
Fridays from 12:00 - 2:30 PM  
This group welcomes Euchre players that have basic to advanced experience to play tournament style.

These events are sponsored/co-sponsored by the City of Akron Recreation & Parks division.  We are excited to be a part of these fun programs and events for everyone in the community to enjoy.

SPRING EGG HUNT
Two Saturdays before Easter

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
A four-week FREE concert series performed by popular local bands.  Concerts are held on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM every summer.  Grab your lawn chair, bring a picnic and get out to enjoy the fresh air and music.

The Firestone Park Community Center is also a drop off site for the Firestone Park Presbyterian Church Blessings Box. Non-perishable items can be donated anytime the center is open. 


Community Meetings
Organizations host their meetings at our centers.  These meetings are open to the public at no charge and welcome new participants.  We look forward to seeing you.

SUPPORT GROUP
Firestone Park is home to multiple support groups that meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Please contact the center for information at 330-375-2806.


Crochet, Knitting, Sewing
Beautiful things come together one stitch at a time.  Our groups offer a variety of skills to learn while meeting new friends and keeping our mind & hands occupied!

CROCHETING
1st, 3rd & 5th Monday of each month  
6:00 - 7:30 PM  
All needle workers welcome!  Come learn how to crochet and knit or work on your own project with friends!  Community projects in progress, too. 

THURSDAY IN THE PARK
Thursdays from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM  
Bring your own machine and supplies to join this group for quilting and socialization.  

SERVE & SEW 
Tuesdays from 12:00 - 4:00 PM
Join this group to quilt and socialize while giving back to community groups. Items made are lap blankets, small quilts and more. All supplies are provided and finished items are donated to groups such as veteran’s hospice, Access, etc. Please contact center for space availability.  

SEW & SEWS
Wednesday Sessions: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:00 - 4:00 PM & 5:30 - 8:00 PM  
These groups work on selected yet individual project that is overseen by a community volunteer. Please contact center for space availability.  


Fitness
With our Fitness Class Pass, you can attend multiple classes at multiple centers across the city.   Our certified instructors will help get you on track and keep you on task.  Try your first class for free.  Participants must register for a pass on RecDesk.

PILATES
Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:00 PM 
Non-impact resistance strengthens and lengthens muscles while improving balance, flexibility and posture. Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle to class. 

YOGA
Tuesdays at 9:30 AM
A gentle-to-moderate class, suitable for anyone capable of rising from lying to standing without assistance. Sequence touches on all the movements of the spine with a focus on lengthening the spine, as well as gentle hip opening, balance, range of motion, and strength building. Variations are offered to allow customization based on your needs and goals.

ZUMBA
Thursdays 6:00 - 7:00 PM
This fitness class incorporates dance and exercise moves with uplifting songs and is great for beginners to advanced exercisers.  


Other Center Activities
We proudly partner with local organizations & groups to allow more activities to take place in our centers.  Even though we would like to think we are experts in all things recreation, sometimes it's better to bring in a specialist. 

BOOK CLUB
2nd Wednesday of each month from 7:00 - 8:00 PM 
Join this group to discuss a pre-determined book with interesting conversation and discussion.  No cost.

JAZZ NIGHTS
3rd Wednesday of each month
7:00 - 9:00 PM
This evening is filled with music and fun. Come to this free evening to participate in the music or to listen and sway to the sound.  


Senior Club - Prime Timers

The Prime Timers hold weekly meetings from March-December on Tuesdays starting at 1:00 PM. (No meeting on the 5th Tuesday of the month.) Meetings include entertainment or bingo as well as refreshments.  New potential members are invited to attend a meeting as a guest before joining the club. Please contact the community center for additional information.

Weather Permitting
Splash pad may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance or other operational concerns.

RULES
  • The splash pad is not a supervised area – use at your own risk.
  • All children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Do not use splash pad when you have diarrhea.
  • Water is not meant for drinking.
  • Wash hands after using the restroom or changing diapers.
  • Take regular restroom breaks, change diapers in a restroom.
  • Running, jumping and horseplay are prohibited.
  • Pets, food, glass objects and smoking are not permitted.
  • Bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates or roller blades are prohibited.
  • No jumping off benches or climbing on the spray equipment.
  • The splash pad is for recreational purposes only, no bathing.
  • In case of thunderstorm, lightning, or severe weather, vacate the splash pad immediately.

Summer Camps
Our summer camps are serious business....seriously FUN!  Whatever your summer needs are, we have options.  Whether it is our weekly theme camps or our 8-week summer long camp, check out all the possibilities.

Weekly Theme Camps 
We offer weekly theme camps at Firestone including our tot camps for ages 3-5 and different camps for kids ages 6 - 15.  Our tot camps will be Monday - Thursday from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  Our school age camps will run Monday - Thursday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.  Each week we will offer a different camp and a different theme!  Registration is open.  Visit AkronRecDesk to register for camp.

2nd Friday of each month
6:00 - 8:00 PM
This program offers a safe and accepting place for teens in the LBGTQ+ community and their allies to hang out with others. Each month there are recreational and social activities. 



Tot Programs
Children learn and develop their own style and pace of skills.  Our programs are designed to facilitate the uniqueness of every child while preparing them for the next stage of growth.  We like to think of it as creating the framework of our future leaders. 

TINY TOTS 2’s  
Mondays 10:00 - 11:00 AM 
The Tiny Tots 2’s Program invites 2 year olds with an adult caregiver to join in the fun of socializing with others their age. This is an opportunity for your child to grow and play alongside other children while participating in stories, songs and crafts. 

TINY TOTS 3’s 
Tuesday & Thursday 
1:00 - 3:00 PM 
The Tiny Tot 3’s Program provides an enriching environment through play, storytelling, crafts and music. Your child will have fun exploring numbers, colors, shapes, letters, seasons and weather. All participants must be toilet trained before the program starts.

TINY TOTS 4/5’s 
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays 
9:30 - 11:30 AM
