Water Saving Tips

WATER SAVINGS TIPS

Bathroom
(The bathroom is the major source of water usage in most homes)

• Install low-flow showerheads and also lower your cost to heat water
• Replace older, larger-use toilets with the newer higher efficiency toilets

Kitchen

• Install a low-flow aerator on your sink’s faucet
• Wash only full loads in the dishwasher
• When buying a new dishwasher, consider purchasing a water-saving model

Laundry

• Wash only full loads in the clothes washer
• When buying a new clothes washer, consider purchasing a water-saving model

Outside

• Water your lawn only when it needs it. A good way to see if your lawn needs watering is to step on the grass. If it springs back up when you move, it doesn't need water. If it stays flat, it is time to water.
• Always use a broom to clean walkways, driveways, decks and porches, rather than hosing off these areas.
