Training/EEO offers training in a wide variety of areas. Primarily, the responsibilities include:

  • Planning, coordinating and implementing a variety of City-wide training and staff development programs.
  • Recommending and/or making changes in City programs and procedures designed to eliminate discriminatory practices.
  • Improving the City's programs for equal employment opportunity.
  • Reporting the status of the City's EEO programs to government agencies.

Training Programs:

An electronic training brochure is available for managers to use as a resource for staff development within their department. The programs were designed for experienced managers, seasoned and new employees. A current list of classes can be found here.

EEO Programs:

Training/EEO has developed an internal complaint form to manage employee complaints of harassment and discrimination. The City of Akron has formed a complaint team responsible for investigating and resolving internal complaints by City employees. The team consists of a representative from the Law Department, the Office of Labor Relations, and the Department of Human Resources.
