Today, Mayor Plusquellic announced that Timocco, an Israeli company that creates technological learning games for children with special needs, is opening up its U.S. Headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

Timocco is the leading global child tele-therapy gaming environment, with over 5,000 children around the world using the unique learning system. Its distinctive computer-based learning platform is designed specifically for use as part of an occupational, physical, and speech therapy regimen for children with developmental disabilities.  Through specialized gaming programs, Timocco motivates special needs children to practice developmental skills in therapy and at home.

“We believe that Timocco can become a worldwide hub where millions of children with special needs can play and practice skills every day,” said Eran Arden, Founder and CEO of Timocco.  “Through our new headquarters in Akron, we can bring the Timocco technology to the United States and help the 6.5M young Americans who have developmental disabilities build the developmental skills necessary for success.”

“We think Timocco has a unique learning tool that will make a difference in the lives of our children who have special needs, their therapists, and parents, and we are pleased that Akron will be the US center for this technology,” said Mayor Plusquellic.  “Over the years, we have really made an effort to visit different businesses worldwide and learn their specialties, and now we are bringing these international companies back to Akron.  It takes a lot of time and effort, but it is starting to make a difference for our community, through new jobs, income tax revenue, and other business attraction.”
