Project Location: The City of Akron proposes to construct Seiberling Way in the City of Akron, Summit County.  This is a new roadway, which will extend Seiberling Way from Eagle Street to Englewood Avenue along with providing a connection southeasterly through the roundabout at Eagle Street to Massillon Road.

Proposed Improvements:This project is part of the overall new roadway system for the Akron/Goodyear development.  The Seiberling Way Phase 1 Project consists of a new 0.37-mi north-south street connection between Eagle Street and Englewood Avenue, including new curbed pavement, a sidewalk with a brick strip, a multi-purpose trail, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, landscaping, decorative lighting, traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, and a structure over the Little Cuyahoga River. The new roadway will be constructed through an old industrial site, which includes an industrial landfill. Roadway construction will include the relocation of industrial waste within the project site. The project also includes 0.28 mi (.45 km) of widening along the south side of Englewood Avenue to provide auxiliary turn lanes onto Seiberling Way, including new curbed pavement, the reconstruction of the sidewalk with a brick strip, storm sewers, landscaping, decorative lighting, signing, and pavement markings.

This new roadway will not result in substantial impacts to environmental (ecological, cultural, hazardous waste sites, etc.) resources.  The construction of this new roadway will have minor and short-term traffic disruptions along Englewood Avenue.

This project will be funded with Federal monies and other local funding.
