Akron, Ohio (September 16, 2014) - Brian M. Gresser, Manager of Akron’s Water Reclamation Services was recently presented with the J.W. Ellms Award from the Ohio Water Environment Association (OWEA) at their annual conference held in Columbus.  The J.W. Ellms Award is given to an individual who is in an administrative or supervisory position, stressing participation in conference activities, civic affairs, and leadership.

Brian is a Professional Engineer with a Class IV Ohio Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification and has responsibilities over Akron’s Water Reclamation Facility, its Renewable Energy Facility, and its Collections System. He has presented at Section meetings and State conferences, and actively supports and participates in plant tours for civic groups, local schools and colleges. He is Vice President of the Association of Ohio Metropolitan Wastewater Agencies and serves on the professional advisory committee for the undergraduate Environmental Health Sciences Program at Kent State University.

““We are fortunate to have such a passionate and involved person overseeing our facilities, and he is certainly worthy of this award,” noted John Moore, Akron’s Service Director.  “Brian seems to really love his work and he is always encouraging staff members to get more involved by participating in OWEA programs and activities.”

The Ohio Water Environment Association is a non-profit, wastewater related organization with nearly 2000 members including scientists, engineers, treatment plant and collection system personnel, manufacturer’s representatives, and regulators, all dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of our most precious natural resource ... WATER.
