
Premier Downtown Akron Outdoor Amphitheater, Lock 3, Releases 2015 Summer Concerts and Events Schedule!

The City of Akron’s Lock 3 amphitheater opens the 2015 summer season with the first Rock the Lock concert, presented by WONE on Friday, May 22nd, on the Akron General Stage featuring Viscous Cycle, The #1 National Lynyrd Skynrd Tribute Band with local band G Force. The venue has hosted more than 2 million visitors since its opening in 2003 and has announced a 2015 summer season with more than 27 Friday and Saturday night concerts, five festivals, 35 community fund-raising events, 11 farmers markets and 15 jazz and gospel events in neighboring Lock 4.
WONE’s Friday Night Rock the Lock Concerts
Rock and roll tribute bands have been the signature of Lock 3 on Friday nights during the summer. New tributes and old favorites will perform every Friday from May 22nd – September 4th. Admission is always free to Rock The Lock events and picnic baskets are welcome.
Friday Night Cornhole Tournaments sponsored by Miller Lite return to Lock 3 where participants compete for a grand prize of $1,000! The double elimination rounds occur June 1 – August 8 (no tournament the weeks of July 3 & 10). Registration starts at 7pm on a first come first serve basis and are limited to 16 teams. Cost is $20 per team and includes 2 drink tickets for soda or beer and munchies. The first and second place finishers from each week will be invited back to play in the Tournament of Champions on August 14.
Lock 3 Live! Concerts
Saturday night concerts include national artists as well as national tribute bands and start on June 27th and continue through September 5th. New this year, Lock 3 is proud to present the US Army Field Band & Soldier’s Chorus on Thursday, June 18 and the US Navy Band Cruisers on Tuesday, August 18. Both are free concerts for the public.

The City of Akron’s Rib, White and Blue Festival July 1st – 4th
Lock 3 expands its gates to South Main Street for Northeast Ohio’s largest 4th of July rib festival, as rib vendors from all over the United States compete for cash prizes and bragging rights. For decades, Akron has celebrated Independence Day with food, fireworks, and music. Admission is free for this event. The 66th Annual Italian-American Festival July 9th - 11th
The three-day festival opens for lunch on Thursday and Friday and continues through Saturday night. Dozens of vendors of authentic Italian food will be on hand through the three-day event on South Main Street. Admission is free for this event. For a complete list of events visit www.it-am.org.
National Hamburger Festival August 8th – 9th
This year marks the 8th anniversary of the National Hamburger Festival. Over 120,000 hamburger fans have enjoyed family fun, great entertainment and one of the largest assortments of hamburgers ever assembled in one place. Admission is $5. Global Village Festival Sunday, September 13th

Community Events Abound at Lock 3
Over $1 million has been raised for the charities which have used Lock 3 as a home base for fundraisers. Over 25 community events have been scheduled so far for Lock 3 in 2015. Visit www.lock3live.com for a list of community events.
Lock 4's Lock Bottom Blues & Jazz Club and Gospel Sundays
The City of Akron will continue to host free local jazz concerts every Wednesday from July 8th – September 2nd at the Lock Bottom Blues & Jazz Club in Lock 4. Concerts start at 7pm.
Gospel Sundays will return for a second year in a row every Sunday from July 26th – August 30th. Concerts start at 5pm.

Lock 3 Farmers Market
