Akron, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2016 – The City of Akron is hosting the Global Village Festival of Greater Akron on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. outside Jennings Community Learning Center, 227 E. Tallmadge Avenue. The Global Village Festival is a celebration of international and ethnic diversity in our community, and is being held in the city’s “melting pot” neighborhood of North Hill.

Akron’s diversity is an important community asset that enriches and enlarges residents’ collective world view. The mission of the Global Village Festival is to help foster greater awareness and appreciation for the diversity that exists in the City of Akron and Summit County, focusing on both our newest residents and also our culturally diverse residents who have been here for generations. It is designed to provide a variety of distinctive cultural expressions to be shared within our community, including: live music and dance performances, children’s activities, exhibitions, international cuisine and much more.

Among many vendors present will be ONE, a non-partisan global advocacy and campaigning organization co-founded by Bono, with more than 7 million supporters from around the world fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. They will bring their 2016 Caravan and White House Bounce House to the Festival. The ONE Vote Caravan is a mobile campaign experience that allows participants to interact on issues, take actions engage on social media within the scope of this year’s campaign trail.
