Akron, Ohio (October 18, 2013) –  This past Tuesday, October 15th, the City of Akron opened up two, computer-assisted, Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) Health Care Sign-up Sites for citizens who do not have computer access or who need help electronically signing up for Health Care.  Starting next week, the sites will be adjusting their times until further notice.

The Lawton Street Community Center, 1225 Lawton Street and Firestone Park Community Center, 1480 Girard Street, will be open each Tuesday and Thursday (until further notice), from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 to 4:00 PM.  Certified Application Counselors from the Summit County Public Health Department will be at each site to assist residents and to answer any questions.

The City also has information on the new Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) and the Health Insurance Marketplace on its website, www.akronohio.gov.  From the City’s Homepage, residents can access the national website, www.HealthCare.gov, or the Summit County Public Health Department to obtain on-line applications.  Residents can also call 1-800-318-2596 to reach the 24/7 national call center where trained customer service representatives will answer all questions about the Health Insurance Marketplace in 150 languages.

The City is also providing a short form paper application to residents.  Those are available at all City of Akron recreation centers and in the Lobby of the Municipal Building, 166 S. High Street, Akron, OH 44308.
