On Saturday, March 15, 2014, two popular downtown family venues will sponsor community “meet and greet” events to thank Mayor Plusquellic for his 40 years of public service to Akron.

The Civic Theater.  From 10-11:30 a.m., just prior to downtown Akron’s Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Civic Theater is inviting the public to come meet the Mayor, take a photo with him, visit with Akron’s favorite mascot Orbit, enjoy cookies and punch, entertainment, and collect free and/or discounted tickets to one of several of the Mayor’s favorite places to bring his grandkids.  These popular Akron family destinations will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

The Duck Club at Canal Park.  The festivities will resume immediately after the parade, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., with another public event at Canal Park.  The RubberDucks are hosting an event where the Mayor will meet with residents, take photos, and hand out free and/or discounted tickets to popular Akron family destinations.  This is a great chance for the public to see all the new renovations going on at Canal Park!  Of course, Orbit wouldn’t miss this event, and he will be on deck welcoming guests.

These two family-fun celebrations are some of the family friendly events planned recognizing the Mayor for his 40 years of service.

These free public events follow a more formal event taking place tonight at Greystone from 6-8.
