Mayor Horrigan and Akron PeaceMakers Invite the Public to a Free Valentine’s Card Workshop to Benefit Local Residents in Need

Akron, Ohio, January 30, 2018The City of Akron PeaceMakers, a youth civic/leadership program of the Akron Mayor’s Office, is sponsoring a Valentine Card Workshop on Saturday, February 3rd at the Goodyear Branch Library.

Participants attending this workshop will help craft Valentine’s cards to be delivered to clients of Mobile Meals, nursing home residents, and patients at Akron Children’s Hospital. This event is free and open to the public. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

“This is our fifth year sponsoring this workshop and our goal is to create at least 400 cards to distribute this year,” Mayor Horrigan said of the event. “Families and elementary students are invited to attend and help create a Valentine to brighten someone’s day, while making another to take home and share with a friend or loved one.”
