SUM CR15-8.44

IN THE CITY of AKRON, SUMMIT COUNTY

Project Location: The City of Akron has received Safety funding to improve the safety of the intersection of East Waterloo Road and South Arlington Street.

Proposed Improvements:  Proposed improvements include the removal of the existing slip right turn lanes and replacing them with traditional perpendicular style right turn lanes and the replacement of the existing watermain.  Also included in the project scope is the extension of the west leg center median and upgrading of the traffic signalization system as needed to accommodate the intersection reconfiguration.  Both East Waterloo Road and South Arlington Street will maintain one lane in each direction during construction.  Lane closures are expected to be in effect for 30 days.

The estimated construction cost is $914,000. The proposed project will be constructed within the existing right-of-way and will not result in substantial impacts to environmental (ecological, cultural, hazardous waste sites, etc.) resources.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2015.  All interested persons are invited to provide comments, statements, and/or exhibits by mailing them to Christine Jonke, P.E., Project Manager – City of Akron Engineering Bureau, 166 South High Street, Room 701, Akron, Ohio 44308; or calling 330-375-2015.  The final date for submission of comments will be January 19, 2015.
