CITY OF AKRON HOSTS MIDDLEBURY BETTER BLOCK EVENT JULY 30 AND 31 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Akron, Ohio, July 26, 2016–   The City of Akron Middlebury Better Block Event will be held July 30 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p. m. and July 31 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. The event will be held at the intersection of S. Arlington and E. Exchange Streets. The street blocks will be closed off from vehicle use during the event.

Event is free and open to the public. Community members, business owners, artists, singers, friends and families residing in the area are encouraged to participate and support the event.

“Showcasing neighborhood pride is something our City of Akron residents are good at doing, said Mayor Horrigan.”

“The fact that our residents love their community and city is wonderful.”

“2015 was the first year for Better Block events,” said John Valle, Director of the Department of Neighborhood Assistance.

“We are fortunate to have the Knight Foundation fund this initiative for the second consecutive year.”
