Robert Jackson began his career as a police officer with the Akron Police Department on April 4, 1999.

Robert's first assignment was on Platoon #1, the 10:30PM-7AM shift.  He worked this shift for 15½ years with two temporary assignments on the Platoon #5, 11AM-7:30PM shift.  Since November 2014, he has been assigned to the Platoon #2, 6:30AM-3PM shift.  Robert works district car #7 in the Kenmore area of Akron.  He handles calls for service, assists citizens and makes arrests as needed. He is a Crisis Intervention Team member and Field Training Officer.

Robert is an extremely skilled professional with an outstanding work ethic.  He is unwilling to settle for average performance and sets a high personal and professional standard for himself.  He is very knowledgeable, makes sound decisions and takes ownership of the district he works.  Robert is known to utilize community-policing principles to patrol the area.

Robert’s paperwork is stellar.  His attention to detail is so impeccable that he received praise from a Municipal Judge for an incident report involving a domestic violence arrest. He conducts very thorough follow-up and preliminary investigations.  Robert also routinely processes his own crime scenes by taking photographs and dusting for latent prints.

Robert’s dependability truly sheds light on his superior effort.  He accepts every task without question and can be counted on to complete those tasks in an efficient and effective manner.  His conduct and cooperation with the public and the command staff is outstanding. Robert collaborates with detectives on problem locations and known suspects.  He was commended earlier this year for his efforts in apprehending a known serial burglar.

Robert is an outstanding example to his fellow officers. He presents a calm, professional demeanor.  He is physically fit and well respected.  He is an excellent representative of his shift, a positive role model and true leader.  He is an asset to the police division, the City of Akron and the citizens he serves.

Robert has been married to Sherry for 13 years.  They have a 12-year-old daughter, Alexis, and a 10-year-old son, Isaac.  The family has a pet cat named Daisy.  Robert grew up in Springfield Township, where he is a graduate of Springfield High School.  He has an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice Technology from the University of Akron.  When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and close friends.  He has coached his daughter’s softball team for five years and enjoys working out.

It is a pleasure to honor Robert Jackson as an employee of the Akron Police Department and the City of Akron.
